Australian businesses targeted by phishing scam
Australian business have been affected by a new phishing scam as of January 9 2019 – this new scam was uncovered by a threat intelligence platform. It was a tender themed phishing scam targeting companies who are allegedly “selected” by the government to submit tenders for commercial projects.
When users click on the link to submit a tender, they will be brought to a replica of the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities registration page, which is designed to steal the user’s details. The intelligence company Anomali recommends implementing a cyber security course for all employees to ensure they are aware of what to look out for.
The scam is designed to lure in companies with urgency warnings and deadlines to ensure they sign up and register their details without second thinking the process.
